A Week in Ann Arbor

A pleasant place to sit in the park for an hour.

A mural from Alice.

Indescribable Garden Art

Trying Recipes from the New York Times

Ingredients for cauliflower recipe — I added red bell pepper to the dish.

Not Reading Much

I read one story from this collection.

The locale of the story I read, which took place in the mid-19th century.

My next reading project, starting slowly: The Light Eaters.

Home Improvement

Our old shower door was not sliding any more. We had a new one installed.

A Great Evening With Carol and Nat

Each dish featured different herbs from Carol’s garden.

Delicious dinner rolls using a recipe from a popular local restaurant— plus herbs.

Salmon with sorrel, a wonderful and unusual herb.

Magnificent roasted peppers.

Weekend at Home

 The Potters’ Guild Sale

Saturday morning: the June sale of the Ann Arbor Potters’ Guild.

Our favorite artist: Maki Lin.

We bought two new plates (similar to ones we have already).

Along the Huron River

We don’t understand this “sculpture” — here’s another one in a different park.
Anyone know its real purpose?

Along the path is a plaza celebrating the history of local women in sports for the past 50 years.

We always enjoy watching the canoes and kayaks making their way down the Huron River.

Beautiful Weather But with Some Smoke

In spite of poor air quality, we have been eating in our garden.

Contemplation: “A Child’s Garden of Verses”

The Swing

HOW do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!”
